While we’re yet to receive official confirmation from Force Motors Limited, dealer sources tell us that the Force One SUV is all set to be launched on August 19th, thus making the already packed August a very busy month indeed with new car launches happening left, right and center. Force Motors has already enlisted its dealers across India. The Force One SUV will be sold by 18 dealers initially across north, south and west India.
Force One SUV Teaser
East India surprisingly doesn’t get a single dealer in the initial dealer list although we think that Force Motors will add a dealer for the Eastern part of the country soon. The Force One SUV is essentially a re-badged Chinese version of the Ford Explorer. The Chinese version of the SUV is called the Guangdong Foday Explorer III. In India though, the Force One SUV will feature a 2.2 Liter common rail turbo diesel engine that Force Motors has licensed out from Daimler.
The OM611 diesel engine is good for 140 Bhp of peak power and 350 Nm of peak torque. Given its Daimler heritage, the engine is expected to be a rugged and reliable performer that could very well turn out to be the strongest suit of the Force One SUV. The SUV which is set to be mostly positioned above the Tata Safari and the Mahindra Scorpio in terms of the price point, will feature plenty of creature comforts an SUV buyer shelling out over 10 Lakh Rupees will demand of it.

The interiors for the Force One SUV are said to be sourced from China. The silver lining however is the fact that Lotus Engineering of the UK has helped Force Motors fine tune the Force One SUV’s ride and handling. Considering Lotus’ legendary expertise in this crucial area, the Force One, we hope has benefited majorly from Lotus’ engineering tweaks to the ride and handling department.
The Force One SUV looks quite imposing and has plenty of street presence, as has been evident from the size of the camouflaged test car model that has been doing the testing rounds for quite some time now. With the Tata Safari Merlin and the Mahindra W201′ World SUV’s launch just around the corner, the premium Indian SUV segment shows all the signs of hotting up. Watch this space.
