It almost seems unreal to even fathom the margins that car companies seem to make per car but then again, why bother if we’re hearing such sweet stuff. Honda SIEL seems to have done what was previously the unthinkable, yet again. Honda, a car maker never known to cut prices, in India at least, first bit the bullet when it dumped it’s bread winner car, the Honda City prices by a whopping 66,000 Rupees. Now, we have yet another humdinger from Honda. Wait for it, Ladies and Gentlemen, the Honda Jazz’s price has been cut by a whopping 1.75 Lakh Rupees depending on the variant. And you heard it first, right here on autoatclick! And this story could have massive implications for Honda as a brand in India, mostly positive of course. Just over a year ago, Team IndianCarsBikes questioned the pricing strategy of the Honda Jazz and many other Honda products in the Indian market. Now, we’re slowly seeing the Honda story unravel even as sales have been plummeting across it’s Indian model range. The Honda Jazz’s price cut however was something that we saw coming given the large chunks of discounts at which the Jazz Hatchback was trading with at Honda dealerships across India.
Honda Jazz HatchbackCurrently, the Honda Jazz’s Base variant in Delhi costs INR 7,12,500 ex-showroom, and the Jazz has been selling with a dealer discount of around 55 thousand rupees. Add to this a special insurance amount offer by Honda of 1 Rupee, the total discount basket for the Honda Jazz at the dealer end is around 80,000 rupees. So, the 1.75 Lakh discount on the Honda Jazz is effectively a 95,000 Rupee price cut, which is simply astounding to say the least. What this means is, the price of the Jazz has now seen a steep correction, with the entry level Jazz being available for under 6 Lakh rupees, ex-showroom Delhi.Suddenly, the Honda Jazz looks like a tremendous value for money proposition as the Jazz has always been a brilliantly kitted out car with very nifty features like the Magic seats, adding tremendous practicality and space to the Jazz’s interiors. Add the typical Honda reliability and quality, you have a bomb proof package that is all set to sell more than it ever did thus far in India. After the massive discounts, the Honda Jazz, which currently sells for INR 7.12 to 7.6 Lakhs will fall to around INR 5.5 to 5.8 Lakhs, thus making the Jazz tremendous value for money.
