The Volvo XC90 Ocean Race was first launched at the Moscow spring fashion week of 2008 in Russia and thereafter it was launched in India in December 2008. The car was named so as it was launched as part of the 9 month event of Volvo Ocean Race and several different editions of the car would be launched at different stop overs during the course of the race.
